Foreword - What Is Tirialle?
The whole of Tirialle is a large continent, on a world that has yet to be circumnavigated.  To the east is the Goldenwave Ocean, which touches on the western shore of the equally vast (and largely unmapped) land mass of Zakotansett, or the Realm of the Bright Dreamers.  It is from here that the Bright Dreamer and her associates first sighted Tirialle.  To the west is the Silverfoam Ocean.  To the south is the tropical Celestial Sea (which many say qualifies as an ocean.)  To the north is the frigid Glacier Sea, beyond which is little but the polar icecap and a scattering of wind-blasted islands that few Tirialleans willingly call home.
Tirialle itself has been home to countless governments and religions, but in the years since the Dreamfounding it is divided into five realms: North, South, East, West, and the Midrealm.  Each is subdivided into many (more-or-less stable) government states, some no larger than a township.  These states have varying methods of rule and a great degree of autonomy, but all adhere to the basic codes outlined by the Dreamfounding treaty.  Each Realm has ten representatives, elected by the state leaders (but, as an unbroken rule, sponsored by none), who serve in the Dreamkeeper Senate, as close to a ruling body as Tiralle gets.  Once every two years, the fifty gather in the city-kingdom of Skyhaven to discuss matters of state and, if needed, summon the Bright Dreamer to help deal with problems.  Beyond this, the rules get both ambiguous and complicated, and are of no relevence to visitors.
