Sir Toby Jingle's Beastly Journey
Wallace Trip
Coward, McCann & Geoghegan, Inc.
Fiction, YA Fantasy
*****

DESCRIPTION: Sir Toby was once a dashing young knight, fearless and brave and strong. Even the monstrous animals of the dark and forbidding forest knew his name and feared his blade. Now, the years are telling; he falls asleep in the saddle, and no longer has the sprightly spring of youth in his step. With the end of his career imminent, he sets out one last time into the monster-filled woods to seek his fortune. Here, he finds beasts he encountered in his youth... beasts who still have a score to settle with the legendary Sir Toby Jingle.

REVIEW: Not quite a comic book (or graphic novel), this book was the first one I read as a kid where the pictures told as much of the story as the words did; usually, it was one or the other. It's a fun tale, even today, with charming illustrations and a surprising ending.
