Review
Since Sendak's death, this book has seen a resurgence in popularity at the library... and, once again, I found it on top of the bin during a slow time at work. (And, no, I hadn't read this before.) Like most picture books, the words read fast, but there's a little more to Sendak's tale than a fast read and colorful pictures. Max has to work through his own emotions, without adults dropping sugar-sweetened lessons onto his head. The illustrations remain classics. It lingers in the memory, and on the bookshelves, for a reason.
