Review

Ross does phenomenal work; a few of her cat paintings I’ve seen, I almost thought were photographs! Her book, while fairly thorough, doesn’t give me the “Hey – I think I could do that!” feeling that others (Claudia Nice, Ron Tiner) do. This is not something a beginner can go out and just do; artists more advanced than I would most likely benefit more from her instructions. Still, it is a good manual, showing how she manages to do what she does, with plenty of interesting comments by the artist along the way. Fairly thorough and well-described instructions take the reader/student through each exercise. Ross’s book is a helpful, if not strictly essential, addition to any artist’s library.
