The Anything Box
Zenna Henderson
Avon Books
Fiction, Fantasy/Anthology
****
DESCRIPTION: A magical box that shows one's heart's desire... a boy with unusual gifts, seen only by a skeptical relative... a child who creates an imaginary monster... Tales of magic and strangeness await within The Anything Box.
REVIEW: I read this many years ago, but the stories have a way of sticking with you. A common theme through many of the tales is the magic of childhood, and how quickly it can be lost in the gloom of adulthood. A bit hard to find these days, but worth the effort. Given my usual track record with anthologies, this one is a particularly pleasant treasure.
