The Complete Book of Amulets & Talismans
Migene González-Wippler
Llewellyn Publications
Nonfiction, Magic
****

DESCRIPTION: For as long as humans have practiced magic, they have used special devices to help bind spells and control luck. From the history of amulets and talismans to the process of creating them, this book covers everything there is to know. Various cultures and styles are discussed.

REVIEW: This is a great reference for people (like me) who sometimes like to page through odd references. Many illustrations and interesting facts plus clear writing and explanations help make it a winner. I haven't tried making any amulets or talismans myself, so I can't speak for their effectiveness, but since my primary interest is inspiration for fantasy works, I enjoyed it.
